Sport

South Australians are sport mad! In this state, sport is a part of everyday life and celebrated by many. Thousands of revellers make their way to the world famous Adelaide Oval every summer to watch Australia take on the very best the world has to offer in the cricket. This year Summer 2007/ 2008 has been no exception, as the iconic Adelaide Oval, saw Australia clash with India in the Test series, and will again host India vs Sri Lanka and Australia v India in the one day series in mid February.

With the popularity of the A league (Australia's premier soccer competition) continuing to sky rocket in Adelaide and Australia and on the back of Adelaide United's previous successes, soccer also has a fanatical following around the Southern State!

The beautiful coastal waters of South OZ keep surfers, fishermen, sailboarders, yachting fanatics, kite surfers and many others lapping up the sun and enjoying our pristine waters. South Australia is renowned for its beautiful beaches, the range of surf breaks and their sheer accessibility. People continue to come from around Australia and abroad to enjoy our laidback ocean scene.

In the winter months instead of the sporting scene calming down, it is jacked up yet another notch. Footy Season! During winter thousands of fans flock to AAMI stadium to cheer on Port Power and the Crows as they battle it out with rest of the country. We love nothing more than when our two teams clash, the ‘Showdowns' are sell out events and extremely popular with fans in South Australia and interstate. Stay tuned to www.yoursa.com.au for information on our exciting ex pat Showdown events!

A raft of other sports are also very popular among the masses of South OZ, with netball, basketball, mountain bike riding and cycling being keenly pursued.
