Adelaide has a rich and layered music scene. South Australia’s love of the arts ensures that music is always featuring on the events calendar. There are a number of venues to visit that showcase local, interstate and international bands and acts. Aside from all the festivals and events that Adelaide is famous for, it’s possible to go and watch live music every night of the week.
Who can go past the ‘Gov’ when talking about Adelaide’s music scene? The Governor Hindmarsh just west of the city, is a fantastic venue to go and see bands, comedy or just have a beer and listen to someone on an acoustic guitar. The Entertainment Centre and the Thebbie Theatre feature some of the bigger bands that visit Adelaide such as The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kylie Minogue and Silverchair. For more local tunes, venues such as the Grace Emily, The Rocket Bar and Enigma Bar are the places to go.
Adelaide has always produced world-class artists and bands and the last five years has been no exception. The Hilltop Hoods, Wolf and Cub and The Audreys have been winning awards left right and centre and are true ambassadors for the South Australian music scene. While South Australians have always known how good the music scene is here, bands such as these are putting us on the national and international map.
